Premier League giants Chelsea and Newcastle United are reportedly in a race to sign Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
According to Foot Mercato, the 27-year-old Swiss international is keen to leave Dortmund for a club that offers Champions League football.
His agent is scheduled to meet with representatives from both clubs in London next week.
Kobel’s contract with Dortmund runs until 2028, but BILD reports that Chelsea are prepared to offer €70 million (£60m) for him. The Blues are reportedly seeking a replacement for their current goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez.
Newcastle are also in the market for a goalkeeper, with potential plans to sell Nick Pope, who has only one year remaining on his contract.
Dortmund’s chances of retaining Kobel may depend on their ability to secure Champions League qualification.
They are currently seventh in the Bundesliga, four points outside the Champions League spots.
They need to win their remaining four matches to have a chance. Their next match is against TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday, April 26.
