The MTN-FUFA Awards 2024 were officially launched on Friday morning at the Kampala Serena Hotel, bringing together football stakeholders, players, sponsors, and media to celebrate the seventh edition of Uganda’s premier football honours.
FUFA Awards Committee Chairman Rogers Byamukama, speaking during the launch, underscored the significance the awards have come to hold in Ugandan football, describing them as a mirror of the nation’s sporting progress.
“The FUFA Awards are not just a celebration; they are a national reflection of our football journey and the stars who inspire the next generation,” Byamukama said.
“Every year, we recognize the men, women, and institutions who keep pushing the game forward, and it is important that the whole country joins us in celebrating them.”
First held in 2015, the MTN-FUFA Awards have grown into a major event on Uganda’s sports calendar.
The 2024 edition, themed ‘Celebrating Football Heroes, Inspiring Future Stars’, will see a broader range of categories, including Male and Female Players of the Year, Male and Female Best XIs, Goal of the Year, and awards for Beach Soccer and Futsal players.
With enhanced fan engagement initiatives and a commitment to transparency, the 2024-2025 Awards aim to recognize both on-field excellence and off-field contributions that elevate the game across Uganda.
