Mauritian cyclist Kim Le Court stunned the cycling world, becoming the first African woman to win the prestigious Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
The AG Insurance-Soudal rider, 29, outsprinted Dutch stars Puck Pieterse and Demi Vollering for a career-defining victory.
“I can’t believe it,” said a breathless Le Court, who had also achieved top-five finishes in Milan-San Remo and the Tour of Flanders this season.
World champion Lotte Kopecky, the pre-race favorite, finished fifth.
Le Court’s unexpected triumph marks a historic moment for African cycling.
