Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger has been suspended for six matches after throwing an object at the referee during their Copa del Rey final loss to Barcelona on Saturday.
The substituted German was sent off in extra-time.
While Rudiger apologized for his actions, his ban was confirmed on Tuesday.
It adds to his woes as he also underwent knee surgery the same day, ending his season early. He will miss the upcoming LaLiga Clasico and the first game of next season.
In contrast, Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham will not face a ban after a review found an error in the referee’s report regarding his post-match red card.
However, teammate Lucas Vazquez received a two-match suspension for his protests.
The final was played amid tensions following Real Madrid’s criticism of the match officials prior to the game.
