The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC), in collaboration with the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA), has launched a Basketball Level One beginners’ training in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, Kikuube District.
The four-day training program, running from April 29 to May 2, 2025, is part of the #GameConnect initiative aimed at developing grassroots sports in underserved communities.
The course has drawn 20 participants from within the settlement and surrounding areas, bringing together aspiring coaches, youth leaders, and key community partners.
The goal is to equip them with foundational coaching skills to support the growth of basketball clubs and foster organized play in the region.
The training marks a significant step toward sustainable basketball development in Kyangwali, promoting both physical activity and social cohesion.
As part of a wider consortium effort under Game Connect, the initiative aims to use sports as a tool for empowerment and transformation in refugee communities across Uganda.
