Buganda Prince David Wasajja underscored the importance of health, unity, and workplace wellness as he headlined the 2025 Kyambogo Ultra Challenge Run held at Kyambogo University Sports Grounds.
“Congratulations to all the runners. Events like these are good for our health, they help foster friendships and promote healthy working environments,” the prince said in a statement to NBS SPORT after completing the 10km race.
His message echoed the event’s broader goal of promoting physical fitness and social cohesion.
Prince Wasajja’s participation brought royal gravitas to the event, as he joined hundreds of runners at dawn, dressed in athletic gear and ready to take on the challenge.
His presence served as a symbolic endorsement of the run’s theme: building a healthier and more united Uganda through sport.
The event featured three race categories 50km, 25km, and 10km, with participants from diverse backgrounds, including rally drivers preparing for the upcoming Pearl of Africa Rally on May 9.
Environmental conservation was another key pillar of the run. In partnership with sponsors KCB Bank Uganda, each participant received a fruit tree seedling as a commitment to sustainability.
“We are proud to support an event that not only encourages fitness but also gives back to the environment,” said Awori, acting Head of Marketing at KCB Bank.
Organizers lauded the turnout and revealed plans to expand next year’s edition, targeting over 1,000 participants.
