KCCA interim head coach Jackson Magera Kaddu says his team is prepared to face a desperate Wakiso Giants side fighting to avoid relegation when the two meet at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking ahead of the penultimate home fixture of the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season, Magera acknowledged the urgency Wakiso will bring but expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness.
“We face a side trying to fight relegation, so they will come here and try to play for their lives, but we are ready for the encounter,” Magera told club media.
The Cityzens are coming off a 2-2 draw with SC Villa in the Kampala derby midweek, a result that saw them miss out on a chance to climb higher in the standings.
Magera noted the congested fixture schedule but remained upbeat about how the squad is coping.
“The games are coming in thick and fast, but we are handling that quite well,” he added.
KCCA will be without several key players for the clash. Derrick Nsibambi, Hassan Muhamud, and Ettiene Katenga are all unavailable due to injury, while James Mubezi misses out through suspension.
However, Magera confirmed that the rest of the squad is available, including the returning Gavin Kizito and Julius Poloto.
The fixture is vital for both teams, with KCCA aiming to finish strong and build momentum ahead of their Uganda Cup semifinal return leg next weekend, and Wakiso Giants battling to stay out of the drop zone. KCCA won the reverse fixture 2-1 in December.
