USSSA Girls Football: St Noa Set for Revenge Mission Against Amus in Final Showdown

The stage is set for a high-stakes showdown as 2022 champions St Noa Girls’ School prepare to face defending champions Amus College School in the final of the 2025 USSSA Girls Football Championship.

The blockbuster tie, slated for Tuesday in Bukedea, will be a repeat of the 2023 final in which Amus edged St Noa 1-0 to lift the title.

St Noa booked their place in the final with a commanding 4-1 victory over western Uganda’s Boni Consilii.

The Zana-based side did most of the damage in the first half, racing to a 3-0 lead within 40 minutes.

New signing Sylvia Kabene, who joined the team after the group stage, was the star of the show with a brilliant brace, taking her tournament tally to six goals.

Midfield orchestrator Patricia Nayiga and forward Dominic Happiness also got on the scoresheet as St Noa cruised through the semi-final. Ashanti Imurinde Uwayo pulled one back for Boni Consilii, but it was too little, too late.

St Noa’s impressive display was credited to the lethal chemistry between Kabene and Sumaya Nalumu, which overwhelmed the Boni defence.

Head coach Nimrod Kintu lauded his players for executing the game plan with precision and flair, as they marched into their third final in four years.

In the second semi-final, Amus College once again proved to be Kawempe Muslim’s nemesis, eliminating the defending champions after a tense penalty shootout.

The match ended 2-2 in normal time, but Amus held their nerve to win 6-5 on spot-kicks.

The victory was a throwback to 2023, when Amus also knocked out Kawempe in a dramatic 10-9 penalty shootout en route to their maiden title.

This year’s semi-final clash was no less dramatic. Amus took an early lead through a stunning Eunice Nabwoba free kick in the eighth minute.

Kawempe responded through captain Agnes Nabukenya, who equalized in the 37th minute before setting up Cynthia Kirenga for a second goal.

However, Ruth Nyakato drew Amus level on the hour mark, setting the stage for a nervy finale. Nabukenya almost won it for Kawempe late on, but her effort rattled the crossbar.

With the match undecided after 90 minutes, it went to penalties, where Amus showed remarkable composure.

Despite missing their first three spot-kicks, they rallied to level the shootout and ultimately clinched the win in sudden death.

The final now promises to be a fiery affair, with St Noa aiming to avenge their 2023 loss and reclaim the crown.

Both teams, along with Kawempe Muslim and Boni Consilii, have qualified for the 2025 FEASSSA Games.
