Absa Bank Uganda Commits Shs 179 Million to 2025 Captain’s Bell Golf Tournament

The 2025 edition of the Captain’s Bell Tournament officially teed off on Tuesday May 13 at Uganda Golf Club in Kitante, ushering in three days of competitive golf and community celebration.

The tournament, a staple on the club’s annual calendar, also marks the ceremonial introduction of the club’s new management team by the Club Captain.

Absa Bank Uganda Commits Shs 179 Million to 2025 Captain’s Bell Golf Tournament

This year’s tournament is significantly backed by Absa Bank Uganda, which has committed UGX 179 million in sponsorship.

The opening day featured a stroke play format for both professional and gross amateur golfers.

The first groups began play at 7:00 AM, with notable pairings including Edward Nyatia and Gary Gonza, as well as Walter Tukahiirwa and Collins Odhiambo.

Other early contenders on the greens included Peter Tumusiime, Joseph R. Akena, Titus Okwong, and Ashwin Kananathan.

As an additional incentive, Absa Bank Uganda has offered a UGX 20 million cash prize exclusively for the professional category.

The tournament runs through May 17 and is expected to draw large crowds of golf enthusiasts and supporters throughout the week.
