West Ham striker Michail Antonio emotionally thanked the paramedics who saved his life after a near-fatal car crash six months ago.
Speaking on BBC One’s Morning Live, Antonio met Rob Moon and Dr James Moloney of Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, saying, “You saved my life, so you guys are basically my heroes.”
The 35-year-old, recovering from a shattered thigh bone sustained in the December 7th crash, has no memory of the incident but was identified at the scene by his West Ham shirt.
Paramedics recalled his disoriented state but were reassured he was talking. Due to Storm Darragh, he was transported to the hospital by road.
Antonio also met Trish Burton from the air ambulance team and discussed the greater impact the trauma had on his family.
He further engaged in a conversation about mental health with former player Clarke Carlisle, highlighting the importance of addressing such challenges, something Antonio has become an advocate for.
Reflecting on his experience, Antonio expressed deep gratitude for those who saved him as he continues his rehabilitation.
