USSSA Releases Roadmap for 2025 National Ball Games II in Tororo

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has unveiled the official roadmap for the 2025 edition of the National Ball Games II, which will be held at St. Peter’s College Tororo from July 10 to 19, 2025.

The announcement was made in a letter dated Monday, May 19, 2025, and addressed to Zonal Chairpersons and Secretaries across the country.

This year’s edition will feature a wide range of disciplines for both boys and girls.

These include CAF Football U14, Football U16, Basketball U16, Basketball 3×3, DanceSport, Woodball, Beach Soccer, Beach Volleyball, Lacrosse, Mind Games (Chess, Ludo, Scrabble), Volleyball, Netball (Girls only), Handball, Athletics & Cross Country, Rugby 7s, and Futsal.

Eligibility will follow the competition rules for 2025, with specified age brackets.

For example, the CAF Football U14 category is open to students born between January 1, 2013, and December 31, 2011.

Basketball U16 is for those born between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2011, while Scrabble players must have been born on or after January 1, 2005.

The roadmap includes a clear timeline leading up to the national event:

  • Online Registration opens on May 21 and closes on June 25, 2025.
  • District Qualifiers will take place from June 2 to 23, 2025.
  • Zonal Qualifiers are scheduled for June 24 to July 3, 2025.
  • Payments and Verification will be conducted from June 25 to July 6, 2025.
  • Replacements at Zonal level will occur from July 1 to 5, while National replacements will be made on July 5, 2025.
  • Launch and National Draws will be held on July 8, 2025.

The national phase kicks off with the arrival of teams and the technical meeting on July 10, followed by a meeting involving referees, officials, and students on July 11.

Screening and the start of competitions also begin on July 11, with the Opening Ceremony set for July 12.

Competitions will continue through July 18, concluding with the Closing Ceremony and Awards on the same day. Teams will depart on July 19.

USSSA has called on Zonal Chairpersons and Secretaries to develop and submit their respective calendars in line with the national schedule to ensure smooth execution of the qualifiers and main championship.

USSSA CEO Mugisha Christopher commended all stakeholders for the successful completion of the National Ball Games I and Football Boys Championship and urged full compliance with the outlined timelines.
