As they get crowned Uganda Premier League champions for the seventh time this Saturday at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, Vipers will become the first team to lift the new trophy.
The new Uganda Premier League, dubbed ‘Margherita’ was unveiled earlier on Thursday by local football custodians, Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
The Venoms have already been declared champions for the 2024/25 campaign with a game to spare, having accumulated 68 points, four ahead of second-placed NEC, after 29 matches.
During the crowning day, the Kitende-based team will take on the already-relegated Soltilo Bright Stars, who occupy 15th on the 16-team table, with 19 points.

Incidentally, Uganda Premier League record holders SC Villa (17) became the last team to lift the old trophy, which has now been binned.
Meanwhile, according to FUFA, the design of the new Uganda Premier League trophy (Margherita) is rooted in a profound and symbolic concept that mirrors the country’s unmatched beautiful features.

“The physical form of the trophy creatively captures the essence of this narrative. It is inspired by the shape of a football, stretched along a vertical axis to reflect the unmatched height of Uganda’s tallest mountain range,” said FUFA.
Days back, the Federation also unveiled a new trophy for the FUFA Women’s Super League (FWSL), with giants and moneybags Kampala Queens set to be crowned champions.
