Overtime Heroics Earn Blink Kobs Another UNLL Championship

Blink Kobs Lacrosse Club clinched back-to-back Uganda National Lacrosse League (UNLL) titles with a dramatic 10-9 overtime victory against MUBS Lacrosse in the final played at NEC Grounds, Bugolobi on Friday.

In a tightly contested final, MUBS Lacrosse, undefeated in the regular season, pushed the defending champions to the limit, but Blink Kobs held their nerve in extra time to seal the win and secure their second consecutive league crown.

The final was a fitting end to a day of high-stakes lacrosse that began with two intense semi-final clashes.

Blink Kobs booked their place in the title match after a high-scoring 23-18 win over Buroni Panthers in the first semi-final. Their attacking efficiency proved decisive as they pulled away in the closing minutes.

In the second semi-final, MUBS Lacrosse were tested by FCA Warriors in a physically demanding encounter. The top-ranked team survived a late surge from the Warriors to edge through 10-9 and maintain their perfect record heading into the final.

But the final showdown between MUBS and Blink Kobs proved to be a reversal of fortunes. Despite controlling large parts of the game, MUBS were unable to put Blink away.

With the scores tied at full time, the match headed into overtime, where Blink Kobs found the crucial winning goal to seal a 10-9 triumph.
