Liverpool have initiated contact with Bayer Leverkusen over a potential blockbuster move for attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz.
The 22-year-old German, who has netted 16 goals this season, is a primary target for manager Arne Slot as the Premier League champions plan for next season.
Leverkusen values Wirtz at over £120 million, a fee that would eclipse the current British transfer record.
While formal negotiations are pending, Liverpool has received encouragement that Wirtz favors a move to Anfield over Bayern Munich. This comes after Manchester City pulled out of the race for his signature.
