Former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been named the new head coach of German club Bayer Leverkusen, signing a two-year deal.
He succeeds Xabi Alonso, who recently moved to Real Madrid.
Ten Hag, 55, returns to management after leaving United in October.
During his time at Old Trafford, he won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. Prior to that, he achieved significant success with Ajax, securing multiple league titles and domestic cups.
Leverkusen Sporting Director Simon Rolfes praised Ten Hag’s “impressive success” and experience.
Ten Hag expressed his excitement to join “one of the best clubs in Germany and also among the top clubs in Europe,” aiming to build upon Leverkusen’s recent league and cup double under Alonso.
He officially begins his new role on July 1.
