The International Boxing Association (IBA) has established a Normalisation Committee, effective immediately, to address severe governance issues and leadership conflicts within the African Boxing Confederation (AFBC).
This critical intervention follows months of deep divisions, including formal requests from AFBC National Federations citing lack of transparency and governance failures, unauthorized meetings, and conflicting congresses.
After unsuccessful mediation attempts, the IBA Board of Directors invoked Article 14.5 of its Constitution.
The Normalisation Committee, comprising IBA and African boxing stakeholders, will temporarily oversee AFBC operations.
Its mandate includes resolving governance issues, managing daily affairs, and organizing a legitimate congress to elect new leadership aligned with IBA values.
All committee decisions will be binding.
