The Uganda national beach soccer team, the Sand Cranes, received a boost on Monday with the arrival of three additional players to their training camp ahead of the CECAFA Beach Soccer Championship scheduled for June 6–11, 2025, in Mombasa, Kenya.
Lubwama Joshua (Kampala City BSC), Peter Mukwata (Mutoola BSC), and Lubega Sharif (St. Lawrence University – BSC) officially joined the residential camp at Bamboo Gardens Beach Soccer Arena in Kasanje.
Their arrival brings the current number of players in camp to 17, as the technical team continues to shape the final squad.
Head coach Arch Rica Byaruhanga, assisted by Akabwai Geofrey and Baker Lukooya, is leading intensive training sessions as the Sand Cranes enter the final stretch of their preparations.
Team officials confirmed that five more players are expected to report to camp in the coming days, which will complete the full 22-man squad.
The CECAFA Beach Soccer Championship brings together top teams from East and Central Africa, and Uganda will be looking to put in a solid performance after falling short in their previous international engagements.
The Sand Cranes are expected to fine-tune their tactical approach and team cohesion over the remaining training period, with an emphasis on fitness, set plays, and match simulations.
