From Schools to Super League: St Noa’s Footballing Ascent Continues

St Noa Girls closed the curtain on what can only be described as a historic season, marked by unrelenting dominance across every level of competition, from schools’ football to the national league stage.

Their crowning moment came on Sunday, May 25, when they edged Asubo Ladies 1-0 to win the 2024/25 FUFA Women Elite League title at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.

Forward Silvia Kabene scored the decisive goal, capitalising on a defensive error to hand St Noa their first-ever promotion to the FUFA Women Super League.

However, this final victory was just the latest in a long line of achievements that have defined their year.

St Noa stormed through the Elite League season unbeaten, finishing top of the Elizabeth Group with 32 points and conceding just one goal throughout the campaign.

Under head coach Jimmy Kintu Mwera, the team showed consistent form, tactical discipline, and attacking sharpness, quickly establishing themselves as the team to beat.

Their success wasn’t limited to club football.

Earlier in May, the St Noa Girls Secondary School team, affiliated with the club, clinched the 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) girls’ football title after a tense penalty shootout win over Amus College.

That victory followed their strong showing at the 2025 CAF Africa Schools Football Championship in Ghana, where they took home silver after falling to the hosts in the final.

In February, St Noa further demonstrated their depth and consistency by winning the 2025 Elite Secondary Schools Games, dethroning regional powerhouses Kawempe Muslim in a hard-fought contest.

Individually, their players have also been recognised.

Silvia Kabene, who scored the winning goal in the Elite League final, was named the Most Valuable Player of the Season, while goalkeeper Lillian Nakirya earned Goalkeeper of the Season honours for her string of impressive performances.

From dominating the schools’ football calendar to sealing promotion to top-tier competition, St Noa Girls have showcased a model of development, resilience, and excellence.

Their remarkable run of results and consistent growth point to a promising future, not just for the club, but for Ugandan women’s football at large.
