Five-Star Amuge Fires Uganda Past Sierra Leone in Kwibuka Tournament

The Uganda Women’s national cricket team the Victoria Pearls delivered a ruthless performance in Kigali on Friday, dismantling Sierra Leone by 10 wickets to record their third straight victory at the 2025 Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament.

The match, played at Gahanga 2 Oval, lasted less than 90 minutes as Uganda dismissed Sierra Leone for just 32 runs in 11.1 overs before chasing down the target in only 4.5 overs.

Bowler Kevin Amuge starred with the ball, taking a sensational 5 for 5 in four overs, including the prized wickets of captain Aminata Kamala and top-order batters Emma Kamara and Jane Newland, all without scoring.

Sarah Akiteng also impressed with 3 for 3, while Sarah Tino chipped in with one wicket.

Sierra Leone never recovered from an early collapse that saw them lose six wickets for just six runs.

Only two batters, Fatu Conteh and Hussainatu Sawanneh, managed to score, each contributing just a single run to the total.

The rest of the lineup fell victim to Uganda’s relentless attack or were dismissed without scoring.

Uganda’s openers made light work of the modest target. Without losing a wicket, they chased down the total in under five overs, sealing a dominant 10-wicket win that significantly boosts their net run rate.

The emphatic victory sets up a crucial test against Brazil in their next fixture on Saturday.
