MTN MoMo, URU Extend Partnership For Three Years

Uganda Rugby Union (URU) and MTN Mobile Money Uganda Limited (MTN MoMo) have renewed their partnership for a further three years.

URU’s General Secretary Peter Odong and MTN MoMo’s Dennis Kakonge put pen to paper during a press event held at the Mandela National Stadium Namboole.

“It gives us national pride to support Ugandan rugby. At MoMo, we are committed to building sport from the grassroots and supporting our teams,” Kakonge said.

“This partnership is about the future of Ugandan rugby. With MTN MoMo, we are unlocking long-term value, making rugby more connected to the fans at every level of the game,” Odong said.

Journalists present posed a question about the figure on the dotted line but Kakonge and Odong remained tight-lipped. However, they said the partnership will be both in cash and in kind, extending not only to URU and its events but also the national teams.

This is an extension of the partnership which started one year ago with the 2024 men’s Rugby Africa Cup.

With the next Africa Cup fast approaching on July 8-19, MTN MoMo also revealed the ticket prices for the tournament.

Tickets to the games per day will sell for as low as UGX 30,000 (plus a limited UGX 20,000 offer) for Ordinary Access and UGX 150,000 for VVIP Access.
