Real Madrid faces a potential setback for their FIFA Club World Cup opener against Saudi Arabian champions Al-Hilal on Wednesday.
Star forward Kylian Mbappe missed training due to a high fever, making his participation “more than reasonable doubt,” according to club sources.
This poses a significant challenge for new manager Xabi Alonso, as Mbappe is currently the only recognized center forward. Brazilian teenager Endrick is also out with an injury.
Mbappe has been instrumental for Real Madrid this season, scoring 31 LaLiga goals.
Despite his potential absence, Real Madrid remains a strong favorite, having won five of the last ten Champions League titles.
Al-Hilal, the 2021 AFC Champions League winners, will be looking to capitalize on any weakness in the Madrid lineup.
