Harry Kane was the hero as Bayern Munich defeated Boca Juniors 2-1 to become the first team to reach the FIFA Club World Cup knockout stages.
Kane opened the scoring in the 18th minute, coolly slotting home. Boca Juniors equalized through Miguel Merentiel in the 66th minute, but Kane turned provider late on, setting up Michael Olise for the 84th-minute winner.
“Big performance from the guys,” Kane told Dazn, expressing his satisfaction with the win in a “hostile environment.”
The victory means Bayern only need a point against Benfica in their final group game to secure top spot, potentially setting up a clash with Chelsea in the last 16.
However, Bayern will be concerned by an injury sustained by Jamal Musiala, who limped off after appearing as a second-half substitute.
Boca Juniors’ defeat ended their nine-game unbeaten run, but they still have a chance to progress. In the other Group C match, Benfica thrashed Auckland City 6-0, eliminating the New Zealand side.
