The Uganda Rugby Union (URU) has moved a step closer to ensuring top-class hospitality for teams set to participate in the 2025 Rugby Africa Cup, following a high-level meeting with the management of Speke Resort Munyonyo.
On Friday, June 20, URU officials led by Chief Executive Officer Isaac Lutwama held discussions with the hotel’s management, focusing on accommodation logistics and event coordination for the continental showpiece scheduled for July 8 to 19 at Mandela National Stadium—Namboole.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to deliver a smooth and memorable experience for all visiting teams, officials, and fans.
Speke Resort, one of Uganda’s premier hospitality destinations, is expected to play a central role in hosting the participating teams from across Africa.
The Rugby Africa Cup doubles as a qualification event for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
Eight nations, including defending champions Zimbabwe, hosts Uganda, and powerhouses like Namibia and Kenya, will compete in knockout matches starting at the quarterfinal stage.
The Webb Ellis Cup, the ultimate prize in world rugby, is also expected in Uganda during the tournament window as part of fan engagement and national activation campaigns.
