Over 150 amateur golfers from across Uganda gathered at the lush Entebbe Club on Saturday, June 28, for the 2025 edition of the Hima Captain’s Putter Golf Tournament — a celebration of sport, camaraderie, and club leadership under Captain Serwano Walusimbi.
Played under the Tombstone format, the prestigious one-day competition challenged players across 18 holes on the scenic par-72 course.
The day wasn’t just about golf, though. It was a full-on social affair, capped by a 19th Hole Experience featuring nostalgic 90s music from Ivuga Band and a lively awards ceremony.
The tournament was headlined by standout performances from General Michael Kabango and Peace Hellen, who were crowned overall winners in the men’s and women’s categories respectively.
Peace Hellen also walked away with accolades for both Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin among the ladies — a clean sweep.
Captain Walusimbi praised the enduring partnership with sponsors Hima Cement, saying, “We are always grateful to Hima Cement for promoting and supporting this tournament and standing with me as captain.”
Hima Cement’s Brand and Communications Manager Joan Kitawona reaffirmed their commitment to the club’s development.
“We are proud to partner with Entebbe Golf Club. Last year we constructed new tee boxes. Next up is the main walkway to the club,” she said.
The day’s winners cut across a wide range of categories.
In the men’s division, Jude Ochieng topped Group A, Elly Mukasa claimed Group B, and Charles Kizito emerged best in Group C.
Among the ladies, Bridget Basiima won Group A, Cathy Natukunda took Group B, and guest prizes went to Berna Musanabera and Henry Nsubuga.
Next on the club calendar is the hotly anticipated Clash of the Titans, another Hima-sponsored event set for September, which will include qualifiers and a grand finale, all at Entebbe Golf Club.
