Mengo Senior School and Namugoona High School emerged champions at the third edition of the Greater Kampala Schools Ludo Championship held on Saturday, 28th June 2028, at Mengo Senior School.
The one-day tournament, organised by the Uganda Ludo Federation (ULF), attracted eight secondary schools from across the Greater Kampala region.
The event showcased competitive spirit, teamwork, and rising talent in one of Uganda’s fastest-growing board games.
Hosts Mengo Senior School claimed victory in the boys’ category after overcoming Royal College Namugongo main campus in a tightly contested final.
In the girls’ category, Namugoona High School defended their title from the 2024 season with a convincing win over Royal College Namugongo Mukono campus.
Winners in both categories walked away with major trophies, while the runners-up received mini trophies.
All participants were awarded certificates of participation in recognition of their commendable effort and sportsmanship.
The closing and awarding ceremony was presided over by the President of both the Uganda Ludo Federation and the Africa Ludo Federation.
In his remarks, he congratulated the winners and thanked all schools for their enthusiastic participation.
He encouraged continued training as teams prepare for the upcoming USSSA National Ball Games II, set to take place from 10th to 19th July 2025 at St. Peter’s College, Tororo.
The top four schools: Mengo Senior School, Namugoona High School, Royal College Namugongo main campus, and Royal College Namugongo Mukono campus, will represent Greater Kampala in the national competition.
The President also urged schools to gear up for the Africa Schools’ Ludo Championship in 2026 and announced that preparations are already underway for the fourth season of the Greater Kampala Championship.
