With less than a week to kick-off, the countdown to the 2025 Men’s Rugby Africa Cup has Uganda buzzing.

Speaking on Tuesday during a breakfast meeting on NBS Television, Andrew Kabuura, Head of Sports Broadcast at Next Media, highlighted the significance of Uganda hosting the continent’s biggest rugby tournament.
“This is more than a tournament,” Kabuura said. “It’s about the future, because Uganda will be under the spotlight, and this can open doors we’ve never imagined — for our athletes, our country, sports development, and even tourism.”
The 2025 Rugby Africa Cup will be held at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, with eight countries battling it out not just for continental glory but also for a spot at the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
Kabuura described the opportunity as a game-changer.
“As a proud rugby-playing nation, this gives us a rare platform to promote our local talent, support our federation, and raise Uganda’s profile on the international stage,” he said.
