Former Manchester United coach Benni McCarthy claims “everyone at the club regrets” selling Scott McTominay to Napoli for just £25 million ($34m) in 2024.
McTominay has since propelled Napoli to a Serie A title, earning the 2024-25 Serie A Player of the Season award with 12 goals and six assists.
McCarthy called the transfer “one of the biggest mistakes in football,” highlighting McTominay’s fighting spirit that he believes new £62.5 million ($85m) signing Matheus Cunha will bring.
While United has struggled, McTominay, whose contract runs until 2028, is set to begin Napoli’s new season against Sassuolo on August 23.
