The inaugural FUFA Stakeholders Cup is officially underway following Tuesday’s tournament draw, with matches set to begin this Friday, 4 July 2025, at Royal Park Butema.
Launched by the FUFA President and backed by the Executive Committee, the Stakeholders Cup aims to build unity across Uganda’s football family through friendly but competitive 7-a-side matches.
Teams are drawn from the different regions and FUFA institutions, with each squad required to register 12 players, including at least two women. One female player must be on the pitch at all times.
Group A features Western/Kitara, Northern/West Nile, North East/Eastern, and Kampala/Buganda.
Group B includes FUFA/UPL and FUFA Media Services (FMS), with two byes incorporated to balance the fixtures. The teams drawn against the byes — North East/Eastern and Kampala/Buganda — automatically advance to the semi-finals.
Opening matches will kick off at 2:30 PM on two pitches: Omondi and Majidu. Western/Kitara will face FUFA/UPL at Omondi, while Northern/West Nile take on FUFA FMS at Majidu.
The tournament will also feature an exhibition 11-a-side match between the FUFA President’s IX and the Host Community Legends to close out the day’s program.
FUFA has pledged prize money to celebrate outstanding performers. The winning team will take home UGX 2 million, while the runners-up and third-place finishers will receive UGX 1 million and UGX 750,000 respectively.
Individual awards worth UGX 200,000 each will be handed out for Most Valuable Player, Top Scorer, Best Goalkeeper, and Best Fair Play team.
