Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) set the fastest time in the opening practice session for the British Grand Prix, with McLaren’s Lando Norris a close second, just 0.023 seconds behind.
This marks Hamilton’s first time topping a practice session this season outside of a sprint race pole.
Championship leader Oscar Piastri (McLaren) took third, ahead of Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and George Russell (Mercedes).
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, struggling with car balance, was only tenth fastest.
New floor upgrades were seen on several cars, including McLaren, Aston Martin, and Red Bull. Young drivers Arvid Lindblad (Red Bull) and Paul Aron (Sauber) also made their practice debuts.
The session saw dramatic spins from Pierre Gasly (Alpine) and Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber) at Copse, both fortunately avoiding damage.
