India’s Sanjog Gupta has taken over as the new Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council (ICC), succeeding Australia’s Geoff Allardice.
The announcement was made by the global governing body on Monday.
Gupta brings significant experience from his previous role as CEO of JioStar Sports, a position he assumed after the merger of Reliance Industries and Walt Disney’s Indian media assets.
Expressing his vision, Gupta highlighted the exciting growth of marquee events and the women’s game.
He particularly emphasized cricket’s inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games and technological advancements as key drivers for the sport’s global expansion.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah praised Gupta’s background in sports broadcasting and digital strategy, stating his expertise would be crucial in growing the game and establishing cricket as a regular Olympic sport worldwide.
