Uganda Rugby Cranes’ camp has been dealt a major blow days into the 2025 Men’s Rugby Africa Cup.
Two players; Blair Ayebazibwe and Isaac Massanganzira, sustained injuries during the quarterfinal loss to Kenya and have been ruled out of the tournament moving forward.
According to the team manager, Andrew Ikopit, who spoke to NBS Sport, Ayebazibwe pulled his left hamstring while Massanganzira hurt his right shoulder.
Uganda Rugby Cranes have thus had to activate two players from the non-playing reserves list.
Emmanuel Kiyaga will replace Ayebazibwe and Yasin Wasswa will come in for Massanganzira.
NBS Sport initially reported that Innocent Gwokto was on the non-playing reserves list but we have since learnt he did not recover in time from an injury sustained during the tour of South Africa.
Uganda held their captains’ run at Kyadondo Rugby Club on Saturday morning.
They will face Morocco in the Placement Semifinals at 12 p.m. NBS Sport will broadcast all the action live from the Mandela National Stadium Namboole.
