Gaddafi Football Club have confirmed the appointment of Abdallah Mubiru as their new head coach, bringing on board one of Uganda’s most experienced tacticians ahead of their return to top-flight football.
The announcement was made on Tuesday through the club’s official platforms, with Mubiru unveiled on a two-year deal.
He replaces Robert Mukasa, who guided the club to Uganda Premier League promotion last season.
“We are honoured to resume our UPL chapter under the guidance of Abdallah Mubiru — an accomplished and visionary football mind,” Gaddafi stated.
Mubiru, who parted ways with KCCA FC in April, had been without a club since. His coaching résumé includes stints at Police, Proline, Vipers SC, Mbeya City in Tanzania, and a role as assistant coach with the Uganda Cranes under Jonathan McKinstry.
The tactician now steps into a role that is part of Gaddafi’s broader ambition to cement themselves as a competitive force in the league.
The club’s president, Joseph Opio Okurut, underlined the long-term project that Mubiru will lead.
“We are committed to building a sustainable footballing model rooted in discipline, identity and ambition,” Okurut said.
“Coach Mubiru brings the experience, professionalism and values that align perfectly with what we believe in as a team.”
Gaddafi, under management of Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC), finished second in the FUFA Big League last season with 50 points, two behind champions Calvary.
They now return to the UPL, determined to establish themselves among the elite.
