Crystal Palace supporters have staged a protest against Uefa’s decision to demote the club from the Europa League.
The protest at Selhurst Park comes after the Eagles, who won the FA Cup, were demoted to the lower-tier Conference League for breaching multi-club ownership rules.
The demotion is a result of American businessman John Textor, who owns a stake in Crystal Palace and is the majority owner of French club Lyon, who also qualified for the Europa League.
UEFA rules state that clubs with the same owner cannot compete in the same European competition.
Palace chairman Steve Parish called the decision “a terrible injustice,” while a fan at the protest described it as an “injustice” that penalizes the “entire club and the fanbase” for “a couple of admin errors.”
Nottingham Forest will replace Palace in the Europa League. Crystal Palace is expected to take their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to appeal the decision.
