Avram Grant Names Provisional Zambia Squad for CHAN 2024

Zambia’s national football team coach, Avram Grant, has unveiled a 32-member provisional squad for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The tournament runs from August 2nd to 30th, 2025.
Grant is utilizing CHAN as a key preparatory step for upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and the CAF AFCON Morocco 2025.

Zambia are in Group A, facing tough competition from co-hosts Kenya, Angola, Congo DR, and Morocco. Their campaign kicks off on August 7th against DR Congo.

The team begins a local training camp this Sunday before heading to East Africa for pre-tournament preparations.

Zambia’s CHAN build-up has included local camps and participation in the COSAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

Provisional Squad:

Goalkeepers: Francis Mwansa (Zanaco), Willard Mwanza (Power Dynamos), Levison Banda (Zesco United), Charles Kalumba (Red Arrows).

Defenders: Benedict Chepeshi, Kabaso Chongo (all Zesco United), Mathews Banda, Kendrick Mumba (both Nkana), Killian Kanguluma (Kabwe Warriors), Kebson Kamanga, Happy Nsiku (all Red Arrows), Lyson Banda (Green Buffaloes), Dominic Chanda (Power Dynamos), John Chishimba (Zanaco).

Midfielders: Owen Tembo, Frederick Mulambia, Prince Mumba (all Power Dynamos), Kelvin Kapumbu (Konkola Blades), Wilson Chisala (Zanaco), Philimon Chilimina (Green Buffaloes), Rally Bwalya (Napsa Stars), Abraham Siankombo, Kelvin Kampamba (both Zesco United), Jackson Kampamba (Mutondo Stars), Kenneth Kasanga (Nkwazi), Timothy Sichalwe (Athletico), Kelvin Mwanza (Muza FC).

Strikers: Andrew Phiri (MUZA), Evans Kayombo (Napsa Stars), Charles Zulu (Nkana), Joseph Phiri (Red Arrows), Kenan Phiri (Makeni All Stars).
