Construction progress at the Hoima City Stadium has taken a visible leap forward, with flower planting and landscaping now in full swing, marking the beginning of aesthetic finishing on the $129 million project.
As of Wednesday, July 15, contractors confirmed that the upper car park has received its first layer of asphalt, while major roofing works continue with the membrane halfway complete and cladding progressing even further.
The structural trusses have all been installed, sealing off one of the critical components of the 20,000-seater facility.
Internally, the stadium is also receiving its final touches. HVAC systems are largely installed, and workers are now focused on ceiling work, painting, finishing details, and the installation of electrical fittings.
These updates come as the contractors expect to complete the main stadium structure by the end of July, so as to shift focus to the rest of sports complex set to be handed over to the government by December 2025—well ahead of schedule.
The Hoima City Stadium is a centerpiece in Uganda’s preparations to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, and it’s already being hailed by local leaders as a game-changer for the region’s economic and sporting future.
