The anticipated boxing rematch between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn, slated for September 20th in London, is likely off, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.
Hearn stated that Eubank Jr. hasn’t agreed to the fight and, he believes, “does not want it.”
Eubank Jr. won their initial April bout via unanimous decision.
The first fight, a middleweight clash, was marred by pre-fight weight issues for Eubank Jr., who was fined and hospitalized for dehydration.
Turki Alalshikh, who hosted the first fight, and Riyadh Season are reportedly no longer involved in rematch negotiations.
Conor Benn expressed readiness for the September 20th date, stating the cancellation “had nothing to do with me.”
Hearn suggested Eubank Jr. might be unwilling to return to camp, questioning if he’ll ever fight again.
