Manchester United has finalized a £65 million deal with Brentford for forward Bryan Mbeumo, making him the club’s third summer signing.
The Cameroon international could have a medical next week before joining the squad for their pre-season tour in the United States.
United’s persistence paid off after their previous bids of £55 million and £62.5 million were rejected. The final agreement includes an initial £65 million fee, potentially rising to £70 million with add-ons.
Mbeumo, 25, joined Brentford in 2019 and will now be their biggest-ever sale.
Mbeumo had a stellar Premier League season, setting career-highs in goals, assists, chances created, and touches in the opposition box. His 23.53% shot conversion rate was among the league’s best.
He also demonstrated strong defensive work, winning the ball back 32 times in the opposition third. Mbeumo’s most notable asset is his ability to drive play, with nine carries of over five meters directly leading to goals last season.
