Mbeumo Joins Manchester United in ‘Dream’ Move

Bryan Mbeumo has completed his highly anticipated transfer to Manchester United from Brentford for an initial £65 million.

The 25-year-old winger has signed a five-year contract with an option for an additional year, fulfilling his “dream” of playing for the club he supported as a child.

Mbeumo is manager Ruben Amorim’s third summer signing, joining Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon.

The deal brings an end to a protracted negotiation period that saw United submit three offers for the Cameroon international.

“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams,” said Mbeumo, who will wear the number 19 shirt.

He added that he aims to “reach another level here, learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.”

Mbeumo’s arrival follows a career-best season for Brentford, where he scored 20 Premier League goals and provided seven assists.

Jason Wilcox, United’s Director of Football, praised Mbeumo’s “exceptional” goal and assist record, calling him a “perfect fit” for the club’s developing culture.

His departure marks Brentford’s biggest ever sale. Bees Director of Football Phil Giles wished Mbeumo well, acknowledging it was the “right time” for him to move to “one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

The signing is considered a significant coup for United, especially given interest from other top clubs and their 15th-place finish last season.

Mbeumo is expected to join the squad for their pre-season tour of the United States on Tuesday.
