Brentford forward Yoane Wissa has left the club’s pre-season training camp in Portugal and returned to London for talks, sparking intense speculation about his future.
The 28-year-old’s departure comes as Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Nottingham Forest show strong interest in signing him, all offering European football next season.
Wissa is reportedly unsettled, and his situation is complicated by the recent £65 million sale of Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United.
While Brentford initially aimed to keep both players, the prospect of a £40 million-plus transfer fee for Wissa, who has just one year left on his contract (with a club option for an additional year), is a significant factor.
The DR Congo international has been a key player for Brentford since joining in 2021, scoring 49 goals in 149 appearances, including 19 Premier League goals last season.
A meeting with director of football Phil Giles is expected to be crucial in determining whether Wissa remains a Brentford player or moves on this summer.
