Wrexham Make Audacious Bid for Free Agent Christian Eriksen

In their most ambitious move yet, Wrexham AFC have made a shock approach for free agent Danish international midfielder Christian Eriksen.

The 33-year-old, whose contract with Manchester United recently expired, is a prime target as Wrexham prepares for its first season in the Championship in 44 years.

Eriksen’s agent, Martin Schoots, confirmed Wrexham’s interest, calling it a “hugely impressive project.”

However, Schoots also indicated Eriksen’s preference for a “first-tier competition” and staying in “Western Europe,” posing a significant challenge for the Welsh club.

This bold pursuit follows three consecutive promotions for Wrexham under manager Phil Parkinson.

While the club has already signed several players, including Wales goalkeeper Danny Ward and midfielder Lewis O’Brien, securing Eriksen would be their biggest statement yet.

Eriksen made 35 appearances for Manchester United last season, scoring five goals. His illustrious career spans Ajax, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, and Brentford, where he made a remarkable return to football. He also won an FA Cup and League Cup at Old Trafford.

Wrexham kicks off their 2025-26 Championship campaign on Saturday, August 9, against Southampton.
