Arsenal have officially signed Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting in a deal worth €73 million (£63m).
The 27-year-old has agreed to a five-year contract, pushing Arsenal’s summer spending to roughly £204 million following other key arrivals like Martin Zubimendi and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The transfer fee includes €10 million in add-ons. Gunners manager Mikel Arteta lauded Gyokeres’ qualities, stating, “He is a quick and powerful presence up front, with incredible goalscoring numbers… He brings a clinical edge.”
The move follows Arsenal’s shift from pursuing Benjamin Sesko and concludes a long-running transfer saga that saw Gyokeres linked with Manchester United and facing disciplinary action at Sporting for not reporting to pre-season.
Sporting director Andrea Berta led the negotiations to secure the deal.
