Newcastle United are in talks with Southampton to sign England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, aiming to bolster their squad for the upcoming Champions League season.
This move follows the collapse of Newcastle’s £27m deal for Burnley’s James Trafford, after Manchester City activated a matching rights clause.
Southampton, who signed Ramsdale for £18m in August 2024, reportedly prefer a permanent sale.
A transfer would reunite Ramsdale with former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe and offer him an immediate return to the Premier League, despite suffering his third consecutive relegation last season with Southampton.
Newcastle is actively shaping their team, seeking to add competition for Nick Pope, while also addressing uncertainty around striker Alexander Isak’s future, with Benjamin Sesko a potential replacement.
