Ferrari have confirmed a multi-year contract extension for Formula One team principal Fred Vasseur, putting an end to recent speculation about his future. The announcement came Thursday, ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Vasseur, 57, who joined at the start of 2023, was instrumental in bringing seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari.
Despite earlier reports suggesting Ferrari had explored options like former Red Bull boss Christian Horner, CEO Benedetto Vigna expressed full confidence in Vasseur’s leadership.
“Today we want to recognize what has been built and commit to what still needs to be achieved,” said Vigna. Ferrari currently sits second in the championship, trailing McLaren significantly.
Hamilton, a staunch supporter, publicly backed Vasseur last month, stating, “Fred’s the main reason I’m in this team… I do believe Fred is the person to take us to the top.”
Vasseur himself is grateful for the continued trust: “This renewal is not just a confirmation — it’s a challenge to keep progressing, to stay focused, and to deliver.”
