The Premier League is set to trial referee body cameras this Sunday during the final matches of its Summer Series in the US.
This follows successful FIFA trials at the Club World Cup, where the compelling footage garnered high praise.
IFAB, football’s international lawmakers, recently approved the extension of these trials to professional competitions outside of FIFA events.
This means referees, like Thomas Bramall who will officiate Manchester United vs. Everton, could wear the cameras.
The technology, which includes a camera and microphone, previously helped VAR alert an official to a handball missed due to blocked visibility.
For the cameras to be adopted in the upcoming Premier League season, two-thirds of clubs must agree.
