Manchester United kept their perfect pre-season record intact with a commanding 4-1 victory over Bournemouth at a rainy Soldier Field on Wednesday.
Goals from Rasmus Hojlund, Patrick Dorgu, Amad Diallo, and Ethan Williams sealed an encouraging result for Ruben Amorim’s side, marking their second win in the Premier League Summer Series.
Hojlund opened the scoring early, heading in a Dorgu cross in the eighth minute. Dorgu then doubled the lead in the 25th, sliding a cool finish past the goalkeeper after a clever free-kick from Mason Mount.
Diallo added the third in the 53rd minute, and substitute Williams quickly made it 4-0 two minutes after coming on. A late own goal from Matthijs de Ligt was the only blot on an otherwise dominant performance.
In the day’s other Chicago friendly, West Ham came from behind to beat David Moyes’s Everton 2-1. Everton’s Idrissa Gueye scored first, but West Ham responded through Lucas Paqueta and Niclas Fullkrug.
The result was another pre-season setback for Everton, following a 3-0 loss to Bournemouth.
Everton boss David Moyes expressed his concerns, stating, “At the moment we’re not ready to perform well enough in this tournament, and we’re not ready to start the Premier League season.”
The four-team tournament concludes in Atlanta on Sunday, with United facing Everton and West Ham taking on Bournemouth.
