Bruno Fernandes didn’t hold back after Manchester United’s 2-2 pre-season draw with Everton, publicly criticizing his teammates for being “a little bit lazy.”
The captain’s comments came after a last-minute own goal by Ayden Heaven spoiled what would have been a winning end to their U.S. tour.
The draw follows promising victories over West Ham and Bournemouth, but Fernandes insisted the team’s performance “wasn’t the best.”
He also called for further reinforcements, stating the club needs “more competition” and “more quality” to improve after their worst-ever Premier League finish last season.
Manager Ruben Amorim acknowledged Fernandes’s frustration, saying he’s “happy for the players to have that feeling” because it shows they “understand the situation.”
United will begin their new Premier League season against Arsenal on August 17.
