Teenage tennis phenom Victoria Mboko’s dream run at the Canadian Open continued as she defeated Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-4, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals.
The 18-year-old Canadian, who stunned two-time major winner Coco Gauff in the previous round, started the year ranked 333rd and is now set to break into the top 50. She will face Elena Rybakina next.
In the men’s event, Alexander Zverev advanced to the semi-finals in Toronto after a comeback victory against Alexei Popyrin.
Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the upcoming Cincinnati Open for “non-medical” reasons.
