Applications Now Open For FIFA World Cup 2026 Volunteer Programme

FIFA has officially begun accepting applications for the volunteer programme for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, inviting football fans and community-focused individuals to take part in the largest volunteer initiative in the event’s history.

About 65,000 volunteers will be involved in delivering the tournament across Canada, Mexico and the United States.

The expanded 48-team competition will run for six weeks in 16 host cities, with volunteers supporting 23 areas of operation at stadiums, training facilities, airports, hotels, fan zones and other official and unofficial sites.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino described volunteers as the “heart, soul and smile” of its tournaments, saying they have the chance to showcase local pride, enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the competition and create lasting memories and friendships.

The FIFA Volunteer Community recently passed one million members and will welcome thousands more for this event.

Craig Collins became the one millionth member in April 2025, having previously volunteered at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA and the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in Atlanta.

FIFA is encouraging people from all backgrounds and abilities to apply.

No previous volunteering experience is needed, but applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of applying and eligible to volunteer in the host country.

English is required, while Spanish is an advantage in Mexico and French is an asset in Canada. Other language skills will be considered a plus.

Those interested can apply at fifaworldcup.com/volunteers. Selected applicants will attend Volunteer Team Tryouts starting in October 2025, with training beginning in March 2026.

The tournament kicks off on 11 June 2026 in Mexico City.
