Britam Insurance Company has announced a Shs100 million sponsorship for the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon, set for August 23 in Kasese.
Speaking during the cheque handover, Britam Chief Executive Officer Allan Mafabi urged Ugandan women to take part in the race, which draws both elite athletes and amateur runners from across the globe.
He stressed the value of showcasing local talent, particularly on home soil.
“A healthy body is good for everyone, and showcasing Uganda with our ladies on the track is the best outcome. It would be disappointing to have foreign runners dominate while our own are absent,” Mafabi said.
The marathon is expected to attract hundreds of participants keen to take on the scenic Rwenzori route while promoting Kasese as a top sports tourism destination.
