League Two side Grimsby Town have been handed a dream tie in the Carabao Cup second round, drawing a home match against six-time winners Manchester United.
The tie, which will see David Artell’s side face off against Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United, was the final one drawn, providing a significant boost for the lower-league club.
Manchester United, who are not competing in European competition for the first time in 11 seasons, are one of 11 Premier League teams to enter the competition at this stage.
The remaining nine top-flight clubs—Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, holders Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Tottenham, and Nottingham Forest—will join the competition in the third round.
The draw also produced two all-Premier League clashes, with Bournemouth hosting Brentford and Wolves taking on West Ham.
In other notable ties, Fulham will welcome Bristol City, Brighton will travel to Oxford United, and Everton will play Mansfield Town at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The second-round ties are scheduled to be played during the week of August 25.
The EFL Cup remains regionalized in the early rounds, with the draw split into Northern and Southern sections until the third round.
